ARTEMIS

Base; Dark Phoenix head/Jean Grey body

Other Parts; Hawkeye's bow, arrows & quiver

One of my simpler re-root jobs; the pigtail is a completely separate piece, the ends held by (i) an elastic band (ii) superglue and then all that mess hidden under a binding of leather thonging. Took a bald Dark Phoenix, cut a hole in her head to fit the pigtail and before setting in place rooted long lengths of hair into the bottom hairline, out the top hole, back through the hairline, out the top etc. securing the start and end of each length with a spot of superglue. Artemis' fringe was rooted properly (well, by the candle method at least) and then the pigtail glued in place.

Her bodice is sewn from silver lycra, the blue/green sections, gloves and boots are another fancy lycra - looks great from a distance... but up close she does look a little like 'Disco Artemis'. The spikes are cast from plaster (a pencil point in plasticene makes a great mold... but make sure you shake, stir and prod to get rid of those airbubbles!) and the skulls, as they had to stick to curved surfaces, are cast in latex (from Spawn II's belt). Then it was just a case of applying the strapping (pleather with double-sided adhesive backing) and repainting Hawkeye's archery equipment.
