the HUNTRESS |

Base: Black Widow
Other Parts: Spiderwoman gloves & boots
My first attempt at re-rooting...
and a pretty darned good success even if
I do say so myself. Using the
candle method - thanks for the tip Rachel, I
finished this re-root in c.5 hours.
The candle method? Only works with
nylon/artifical doll hair...
(i) cut off dolls original hair
(ii) scrape around inside the head
(with a screwdriver or similar) to
remove the stubble.
(iii)Light a candle
(iv) Take the doll hair to be
re-rooted. Thread onto a needle. Push needle
through a hole in the doll's head
(I work from left to right, from back to
front) and out through the neck
hole (you might need a blunt cocktail
stick to help the needle on its way)
(v) Now the clever bit; instead of
knotting the hair to hold it in place
use the candle and melt the hair a
couple of cm's away from the needle
(keeping the hair tight and
twisting the needle); it'll melt in the blink
of an eye and you should be left
with a nice blob which'll hold the hair
inside the head better than any
knot. While you wait for this cool (a
matter of seconds), snip off (or
scrape off the melted residue) the
remaining hair on the needle. Pull
the hair back inside the head. Repeat.
(vi) Once you've finished the hair
can then be washed, cut and/or styled
as required.
WARNING; Remember, you're working
with fire and melted plastics here. Be
careful and never leave a burning
candle unattended.
The Huntress' gloves and boots are
cut down and painted Spiderwoman
accessories. All the little straps
are electrical tape while the purple
body decoration is made from PVC.
All were painted purple and then
varnished. Her belt pouches where
little pieces of craft foam with a top
flap of PVC. The larger leg pouch
was much the same; foam, covered with
PVC with a flap made from an
offcut of one of Spiderwoman's boots
Her crucifix was bought from a bead store in Mountain View, CA.
