BASE FIGURE: Hulk
COSTUME: Handmade
NOTES:
I'd been wanting to make an FC Man-Thing for an age, and then some... and then I finally got my hands on a spare Hulk (thanks Glenda!) and so he became my 50th FC Custom.

The Macabre Man-Thing is nothing more than the afforementioned Hulk, a lump of air-drying clay and a pair of gardening gloves!

Found the gloves several months back at a garden centre; they had a wonderful organic/mossy plastic coating; perfect for swamp beasties.

Prepared the figure by adding a large hump on the Hulk's back with the air-drying clay. Also trimmed his head down ; removing the ears (and kept them for future use elsewhere) and took a lot of the hair off. Then I got the gloves out. The fingers fitted perfectly over the figures arms. It was more of a jigsaw puzzle to piece togehter the rest of the outfit, gluing pieces to the body where necessary. The thickness of the glove's material restricts movement a bit in his elbows and knees (but he's still more poseable than Dr Doom). A couple of the glove's fingertips were used to cover the Hulk's head.

Used some unravelled tapestry wool to hide a few joints ad to 'fur' up the back of his lower legs and forearms. It looks a little hairy at this stage, but once painted sets nicely matted.

Used a couple of beads for Man-Thing's eyes and milliputted on his facial tendrils (making sure they set about 1cm clear of his body so that the head moves freely(ish)). More milliput was used to add pointy fingers and toes.

While that was setting I made and set a whole lot of little super-sculpey lumps - these were then glued onto the outfit. Then out came the hot-glue gun; used this to add all those roots/veins(many of them hiding the outfit's seams).

Once all was dry, out came the paints. Dark green - tinted with brown for the roots - drybrushed with a mid-green which really brought up the glove's organic texture rather nicely. Eyes were painted red, orange blobs added and then a gloss varnish was added over them... and I had myself an FC of the macabre Man-Thing.
