the HUMAN TORCH |

Base; Daredevil
Other Parts Required: DD's outfit, Mr Fantastic's boots
Fun with a Hot Glue gun!
First I cut off Daredevil's horns.
His shorts, belt, boots, 'DD' insignia
(peeled off and tidied up with
nail-varnish remover) and gloves were all
removed. Then so was his fabric
collar. The velcro was removed and his
outfit stitched closed. The base
figure was now ready.
He sports a pair of Mr Fantastic's
boots painted red. New PVC cuffs were
added (tighter than DD's cut down
gloves) as were a PVC belt and collar to
reflect his FF uniform. All this
plus his face and hands were painted red.
I used a fine black permanent
marker to add the lines (which run with the
'grain' in the lycra so they
shouldn't bleed). And then I plugged in my
Hot Glue gun!
Adding the flames was actually a
pretty easy job - practice a bit of an
offcut of lyrca or even a piece of
paper first to get the hang of it, but
even the flattest of blobs still
looks vaguely flamey once painted yellow
;-) I found as I 'blobbed' away
that the glue gun trailed long hair-like
strands of glue all over the
place, but don't worry as this doesn't stick
to the lycra and so is easy to
remove. Once dry the blobs can be painted
yellow. A splash of yellow in his
mouth and eyes then brings Johnny Storm
to life. Flame On!
